WTC1993 Silver Eagle BU

1-thumb3

So I made a post recently about the MS68 and MS69 1993 WTC silver eagle that it is a very rare coin with only about 120 coins in its population found at the WTC. Well I am starting to see people on E-bay calling the 1993 Gem Uncirculated coin very rare, and as most of you know following E-bay auctions on these coins know, that is not the case. The WTC 1993 Gem Uncirculated coins is very often up on E-bay going for anywhere between $70 to $140. Well after my posting I am seeing the 1993 Gem Uncirculated coin show up with buy it now of $230. The 1993 Gem Uncirculated coin is not any more rare than the 2001 Gem Uncirculated $1 silver coin from the World trade center. Just to make that clear to everybody. So people saying that the 1993 Gem Uncirculated is 10 times more rare than the 2001 WTC Gem Uncirculated does not know what they are talking about.

1961 SILVER URUGUAY 1O PESOS

4130_35

I am sure that the story behind the 1961 SILVER  URUGUAY  1O PESOS with over 5000 coins in the WTC vault is going to be one of the strangest story told, and I wish I could be the one to tell that story but I just don't have all the detail yet on it. So picture this, why would anybody put 5000 pcs of a 10 pesos from Uruguay into a vault under the world trade center ? Is there any good explanation for that ? It just does not make any sense. On its own without being under the world trade center in a vault would this be considered a valuable coin? Well I check that out and right now Non WTC this coin sells for $13.50 Buy It Now. So I guess not a valuable coin if it does not come from the WTC Vault. So what where 5000 of these coins doing there ? Did one individual have all those coins sitting there for a reason was it at the time a cheap way to buy Silver to hedge that the silver price would go up? Maybe but I don't know, or is there something else that is at play here. No matter what it is the circumstances about this coin and how it ended up under the world trade center will make for a great story some day and for right now I think this coin is very interesting and I would love to hear the full story

The 2 rare Silver Eagles 1993

e283_1 6313c_01

So what are the story about the MS68 and MS69 1993 $1 Silver Eagle from the World Trade Center, these two coins are by most collectors though of as the most rare WTC $1 Silver coins found at the WTC. On this site the number estimated for each coin is about 120 pieces of each found. However these numbers are always questioned, especially when and very know coin seller comes out with numbers of 20 coins found of the MS69 1993 coin. So if the real number is somewhere between 20 and 120 coins only PCGS knows. But no matter what the population of these two coins are one thing is for sure these are the 2 lowest population coins found at the world trade center for the $1 Silver Eagle. These coins are price between $900 and $2000 on E-bay.

If anybody has any other information to share about the MS68 or MS69 1993 silver dollar please share it here or in our forum.

Remembering 9/11

pope

I cannot begin this audience without expressing my profound sorrow at the terrorist attacks which yesterday brought death and destruction to America, causing thousands of victims and injuring countless people.

To the president of the United States and to all American citizens I express my heartfelt sorrow. In the face of such unspeakable horror we cannot but be deeply disturbed.

I add my voice to all the voices raised in these hours to express indignant condemnation, and I strongly reiterate that the ways of violence will never lead to genuine solutions to humanity’s problems.

Yesterday was a dark day in the history of humanity, a terrible affront to human dignity.

After receiving the news, I followed with intense concern the developing situation, with heartfelt prayers to the Lord.

How is it possible to commit acts of such savage cruelty? The human heart has depths from which schemes of unheard-of ferocity sometimes emerge, capable of destroying in a moment the normal daily life of a people.

But faith comes to our aid at these times when words seem to fail. Christ’s word is the only one that can give a response to the questions which trouble our spirit.

Even if the forces of darkness appear to prevail, those who believe in God know that evil and death do not have the final say. Christian hope is based on this truth; at this time our prayerful trust draws strength from it.

With deeply felt sympathy I address myself to the beloved people of  the United States in this moment of distress and consternation,  when the courage of so many men and women of good will is being  sorely tested.

In a special way I reach out to the families of the dead and the injured, and assure them of my spiritual closeness. I entrust to the mercy of the Most High the helpless victims of this tragedy, for whom I offered Mass this morning, invoking upon them eternal rest.

May God give courage to the survivors; may he sustain the rescue workers and the many volunteers who are presently making an enormous effort to cope with such an immense emergency.

I ask you, dear brothers and sisters, to join me in prayer for them. Let us beg the Lord that the spiral of hatred and violence will not prevail.

May the Blessed Virgin, Mother of Mercy, fill the hearts of all with wise thoughts and peaceful intentions.”

12 September 2001 Pope John Paul II
