12th Anniversary For WTC

As the 12th anniversary for the WTC is coming up the WTC Coin collectors are looking around for anything that has not been seen before in the Word Trade Center Coins recovered under the fallen buildings and dug out of the vault.

As always when September 11 gets near we all check Ebay to see if this year anything new is coming out of somebodies collection.

This year when I look there is only about WTC coins for sale where the normal number is around 350 WTC Coins. I blame that mostly on the Gold prices going down from $1,800-1,900 to now around 1,400. The WTC coins have always demanded a premium because of the history they carry but with many sales in the $2,500 -$3,000 mark when the gold price was up. When the price is down the market is simply not there anymore for most coins.

2 WTC Coins I would love to see come to market.

The 1 oz Philharmonic, somebody is holding all 140 of these coins or they have been melted and now not here anymore. Also there are rumors of the coins being bought back by the Austrian Government.

The second coin I would love to see for the 12th Anniversary is the Mexican 1945 Pesos. Only 34 pieces and I have only seen the coin one time on Ebay in the last 12 years.

Australian WTC Coins

What has started to excite me lately on the Ground Zero recovery coins are the coins from different countries. In this post I am going to feature a very nice set from Australia that a true WTC collector has put together. See the pictures below and ebay offering.

As with most of the WTC coins and especially the coins not from the US population numbers on how many that was found at the vault is not available but put together in a nice gift box like below it sure looks good for Christmas.

WTC 11 Years But We Will Never Forget

As the 11 year anniversary gets closed to the WTC towers collapse it feels more a part of history than ever the WTC coins I have in my vault. Taking them out once in a while to admire their beauty and to look at the American flag insert.

I have not been looking at Ebay for a while as new coin acquisition has not been in the cards for me. However around September 11 the WTC coins normally comes out in force. I can see this year they are to. I always look for the best coin I can find to display here as that would be the coin I would get. This coin is selected both for how rare it is and the price point for a coin of this caliber.

This year it goes to the WTC 1994 $50 MS67 gold coin. With a very small population and a price not above $4,000 its for me the best coin on Ebay right now for my collection if I was in the market.

Best WTC Coins Right Now On Ebay

If I had the money right now I would buy the WTC 1994 set on Ebay, Its the 1994 MS67, 1994 MS68 and 1994 MS69 all together in one set from one seller. Its very nice set of coins and I would go after it if I had the money. They are all very low population coins, I think 15, 17 and 20 something like that of each grade. Its a nice little collection of the 1994 WTC 1 oz gold coin.

WTC-1992 Austrian Sch.

Again a brand new coin was found in the weeks of the 10 anniversary of the WTC attacks. This time its more of a mistake by the PCCG but still its a new WTC coin with only 1 coin in exsistence. It was on ebay for a short while but was then sold for $2,195.99 where a normal 1999 Sch. goes for around $800.

This price I think is justfied by the fact that only 1 mistake like this has been found in the 200 Austrian Sch. Even on the part of the flag the coin says 1999, but when you turn the coin around you will see the date 1992.

It would be a good idea for everybody that are reading this to check your WTC coins for years and labeling there might be more coins like this out there.
