WTC Ground Zero PCGS Certified Coins

WTC Recovered coins from ground zero at the World Trade Center, September 11, 2001

How many of the coins found in the Vault of the World Trade Center could get the label of a United States Rare Coin ? What would their prices be ? Well we know that the WTC 2001 $50 Gold Coin MS69 is seen selling on E-bay for as much as $12,000 and since the numbers found of this coin is very small I would say this coin will be a rare coin. Also the coins graded by PCGS from the World Trade Center as MS70 must be considered a united states rare coin. The 1994 $50 Gold MS69 also comes to mind for rare US coins from the the World Trade Center. Will the history of these coins make them united states rare coins and make their prices go up well we have already seen that, will they go up more with time I think we can all agree the answer is yes. Right now you can find the 2001 WTC $50 Gold coin on E-bay Click here for E-bay Listings.

Coin collections value is something we are all very concert about at this time of crises but history has shown that coin collections value will go up with time. For some coins value comes with time, like the Morgan Silver coins minted in Carlson City NV, with other coin collections like the World Trade Center coins a historic event happens and the coins gets instant historic value. Now if we all want to have a part of history and that was why we bought the WTC coins to being with very a we so interested in the WTC coins value today ? Well we are so here are two ways to keep up with the rising value of the coins. First you can use our Coin Forum where the value of these coins are talked about WTC Coins Forum Click Here. The other option is to keep up with the coins that are selling on E-bay here is a link for a special E-bay site where we keep up with the WTC coins. WTC Coins E-bay Auction Click Here.

wtc coin news WTC1993 Silver Eagle BU

So I made a post recently about the MS68 and MS69 1993 WTC silver eagle that it is a very rare coin with only about 120 coins in its population found at the WTC. Well I am starting to see people on E-bay calling the 1993 Gem Uncirculated coin very rare, and as most of you know following E-bay auctions on these coins know, that is not the case. The WTC 1993 Gem Uncirculated coins is very often up on E-bay going for anywhere between $70 to $140. Well after my posting I am seeing the 1993 Gem Uncirculated coin show up with buy it now of $230. The 1993 Gem Uncirculated coin is not any more rare than the 2001 Gem Uncirculated $1 silver coin from the World trade center. Just to make that clear to everybody. So people saying that the 1993 Gem Uncirculated is 10 times more rare than the 2001 WTC Gem Uncirculated does not know what they are talking about.

wtc uruguay coins 1961 SILVER URUGUAY 1O PESOS

I am sure that the story behind the 1961 SILVER  URUGUAY  1O PESOS with over 5000 coins in the WTC vault is going to be one of the strangest story told, and I wish I could be the one to tell that story but I just don't have all the detail yet on it. So picture this, why would anybody put 5000 pcs of a 10 pesos from Uruguay into a vault under the world trade center ? Is there any good explanation for that ? It just does not make any sense. On its own without being under the world trade center in a vault would this be considered a valuable coin? Well I check that out and right now Non WTC this coin sells for $13.50 Buy It Now. So I guess not a valuable coin if it does not come from the WTC Vault. So what where 5000 of these coins doing there ? Did one individual have all those coins sitting there for a reason was it at the time a cheap way to buy Silver to hedge that the silver price would go up? Maybe but I don't know, or is there something else that is at play here. No matter what it is the circumstances about this coin and how it ended up under the world trade center will make for a great story some day and for right now I think this coin is very interesting and I would love to hear the full story

wtc coin news The 2 rare Silver Eagles 1993 wtc coin news The 2 rare Silver Eagles 1993

So what are the story about the MS68 and MS69 1993 $1 Silver Eagle from the World Trade Center, these two coins are by most collectors though of as the most rare WTC $1 Silver coins found at the WTC. On this site the number estimated for each coin is about 120 pieces of each found. However these numbers are always questioned, especially when and very know coin seller comes out with numbers of 20 coins found of the MS69 1993 coin. So if the real number is somewhere between 20 and 120 coins only PCGS knows. But no matter what the population of these two coins are one thing is for sure these are the 2 lowest population coins found at the world trade center for the $1 Silver Eagle. These coins are price between $900 and $2000 on E-bay.

If anybody has any other information to share about the MS68 or MS69 1993 silver dollar please share it here or in our forum.

wtc coin set 1 of 12 1 of 12 Swiss Gold Bar ?

Well this just proves that nobody knows what coins and bars came from the World Trade Center. This 1 of 12 Credit Suisse 1 oz. Gold bar is a first for me. I have talked to a lot of people about these coins and never hear about the 1 of 12 series gold bars. I guess it is only 1 gold bar in this series or maybe there are more coins ? To be honest I don't know but I will try and find out.

I know its been a while since my last post on here, but I have not really seen anything new out there except for this Gold bar.

WTC Eagle is what many people call these coins as they came from the World Trade Center. The WTC Eagle where both Silver and Platinum Eagle coins that where found. The coins has a historic value to most of us WTC collectors.

WTC Recovery Silver Eagles are probably in the numbers from 50,000 to 100,000 total Silver Eagles recovered from the vault under the world trade center. The total number is not release yet by PCGS but most people that I have talked to think the numbers is around these figures. Now over 80% of all the coins that came out of the World Trade Center vault was certified by PCGS and Collectors Universe as Gem Uncirculated and not with an MS grading.

Silver eagles where found at the vault under the world trade center and even in this Gem Uncirculated grade it sure is a beautiful coin. The pedigrees American Flag insert made on all silver eagles found at the world trade center vault was specially design by PCGS when they graded the coins and put them in their cases. Many of the coins I personally own has small specs of dust and other debris inside the enclosed capsule but I look at this as just part of the history of these coins.

pcgs coin population WTC Coins From PCGS

PCGS was established in 1986 by a small group of the nation's leading rare coin experts. The intention of PCGS would be to create a climate in which consumers could participate in the coin market with greater confidence. As PCGS came up with a standard in grading coins and they would keep a record of coins graded.

PCGS pioneered the sonically-sealed, high security capsule as a method of reinforcing its Guarantee of Grade & Authenticity of each PCGS coin.

In addition, the unique certification number permanently sealed inside each coin capsule may be utilized by the coin's owner as a reliable means of identification of the coin against PCGS database.

Once the grading process is complete, the coin (with a certification tag indicating its individual identification number, denomination and grade), is sonically sealed inside a tamper-evident coin capsule. A unique certification number is then assigned from the PCGS computer inventory system. This important process enables PCGS to methodically track all coins graded by PCGS.

With this in mind we now know that PCGS as the ability to give us the Population numbers and grades of all coins found at the World Trade Center vault and they will have computer file on the coins. So now it should not be to long before we have this information.

wtc coin news WTC 2001 Silver Eagle Uncirculated

Year 2001
Material Silver
PCGS Gem Uncirculated BU
Population Unknown

The 2001 silver eagle BU PCGS certified coin was the most common coin found at the vault under the world trade center. It took months to retrieve the coins from the sub-basement where the vault with these coins where located. Some special WTC 2001 Coin to look for would be coins found to display heat marks making the coin black in spots. These coins are often referred as "end roll coins" because they where the last or first coin in a role and these coins would have absorbed most of the destructive power of the falling buildings and the fire that burned at the world trade center. If anybody as any creditable information on population on this or any other coin talk about in this blog please post a comment or write me an email. Silver eagles

Finding this gold bar under all that cement and concrete is still amazing to me.

Each gold bar has a serial number from Credit Suisse and this is how these gold bars from the world trade center can be tracked. As no records has been made public by PCGS.

pcgs coin population WTC Coin Population

The coins that were recovered out of the COMEX vaults in the sub-basement of World Trade Center were certified by PCGS and a chain of custody was followed from the time the coins left the vaults at World Trade Center until they arrived at PCGS for authentication. PCGS has never publicly released or have any population reports generated for these historical coins and it is our understanding that they have absolutely no interest in ever doing so anytime in the near future. Collectors are left to wonder, why would a reputable coin grading service such as PCGS take all of the extra measures to ensure that the coins never leave the sight of security officials so that they could properly authenticate the coins if they never had any intentions of keeping accurate records of how many coins were actually recovered?

We believe that PCGS, the number one coin grading service, owes it to the American Numismatist as well as the victims of September 11, 2001 the courtesy of a population report so that we can at least have some kind of reference as to what the prices for some of these historical pieces should be according to their rarity. These coins are so unique and mean so much to so many collectors worldwide that not only is it time for some kind of accountability, it is time to properly give these coins the respectful place and recognition that they deserve and have now earned in numismatic history. These PCGS certified coins will forever serve as reminders of the events of September 11, 2001 so that we may never forget our Brothers and Sisters that were lost on that fateful day.

Whether collectors refer to them as “Historic Coins” or “Blood Coins” it is now of no consequence as they have now earned their rightful place in world history. The coins are what they are, important pieces of world history no matter who profited from their sale or whether or not PCGS thought it were right! It is true that quite a few dealers and or collectors made or are making money through the sale of these coins but how else can they be passed down from generation to generation? As gifts? Come on people, let’s be real.

If an individual collector and PCGS authorized dealer Mitchell Spivac known as www.wondercoin.com on eBay can account for 100 New York State Quarters that raised over $40,000 dollars for the Uniformed Firefighters Association (UFA) Widows’ and Children’s Fund. How come PCGS and or the “Originators” of these the World trade Center Recovered coins cannot account for every coin certified given the fact that an official statement given by PCGS on November 14, 2002 says;

“This was one of the toughest and touchiest decisions we ever made. In the months following Sept 11, we were approached on numerous occasions to do coin-related projects. We rejected all the projects except one PCGS project from one source. After considerable thought, we decided to do the one PCGS project because we knew the people handling the deal very well, they assured us that everything would be handled in the best possible way, and they assured us a hefty donation would be made to the victims. It is our understanding that there are 4 direct retailers of these coins, that the two largest have committed to donating between 6% and 12% of the gross sales price to the fireman/victims funds, and that the largest retailer has raised close to $400,000 for the funds. It was certainly not our intention to participate in anything that is disrespectful to our country or the victims of our National tragedy. I hope this is explains what we did and why we did it. Like I said, it was a touchy decision.”

If more than $400,000 thousand dollars for the Fireman’s/Victims September 11 fund was raised through the sale of these coins? Why not keep records of how many coins were actually certified? If for nothing else, they should do it out of respect for the victims of September 11, 2001.

The collector base for these historical pieces has grown considerably since their early release back in 2001-2002 and we further believe that it leaves the individual collector of this hobby at a great disadvantage not knowing the true population of each individual coin. We sure hope that PCGS wakes up soon and releases accurate population numbers for each WTC coin authenticated. We believe that it is the right thing to do considering that their reputation and integrity is currently on the line. Why hide the population numbers for the World Trade Center Recovered coins? It is also our opinion that PCGS should be honored that they were given the chance to be the only authorized grading service to authenticate and sonically seal these historic coins no matter what anyone else thinks.

With that in mind the population numbers that are found on this website are to the best of our research. If anyone visiting this website has any pertinent information on the subject, please let us know so that we can update our information.

The total population number we do know comes from the
