190 sets. |
So new information comes to me every day now and here is something that I did not know. The 190 series is a 6 coin set, total coins in the set is not 190 coins but 1,140 coins.
The 6 coins in this set are the 2001 $1 silver,$5,$10,$25,$50 gold, $100 Platinum. Most sets have been split up but the original set that came out from the world trade center was these 6 coins in 1 of 190
I will correct the information other place in this website to make the corrections.

This is an interesting set all 1000 sets are made up of one WTC silver eagle year 2001 MS69 and one $5 Gold eagle 1999 MS 69. There where 1000 sets sold like this at the start of the recovered coins from WTC how many sets like this that is left is anybodies guess.

The 2001 silver eagle BU PCGS certified coin was the most common coin found at the vault under the world trade center. It took months to retrieve the coins from the sub-basement where the vault with these coins where located. Some special WTC 2001 Coin to look for would be coins found to display heat marks making the coin black in spots. These coins are often referred as "end roll coins" because they where the last or first coin in a role and these coins would have absorbed most of the destructive power of the falling buildings and the fire that burned at the world trade center. If anybody as any creditable information on population on this or any other coin talk about in this blog please post a comment or write me an email.

So I am going to do this section a little bit different. I am going to update the price of the different dates in the $1 Silver Eagle WTC coins each quarter.
Updated May 2008
| Year |
Price |
| 2001 Gem |
$102 |
| 2001 MS69 |
$199 |
| 2000 Gem |

| 1993 Gem |

So this is the first update from May 2008 it might give so indication to population of these coins other than what is on other pages on this site. The 1993 MS69 should have a population of 120 coins and the 1987 MS 69 should be around 400 coins.

The 2001 $1 Silver Eagle MS69 is a little more rare than the 2001 BU but its still a coin that can still be found on E-bay or other online auction places. The coin is very collectable as its the year of the 9-11 attacks. If I could only buy one coin and did not have the money for the gold coins this would be the coin I would buy. As a matter of a fact this was the first WTC recovery coin I ever bought. There is a section on this blog dedicated to the appreciation in value of this coin as its represents a part of the WTC recovery coins with the most appeal for people just wanting to have one coin from the vault.
A coin dealer was offering the following in 2004:
1/10 gold coin and a Liberty Silver dollar, both PCGS MS69, they had 198 sets of these available, and the coins are dated 2001. Price for both coins in 2004 $425.

So this coin is the 2001 MS69 $1 silver eagle with the bar code on front, normally the bar code is on the back of the coin where the hologram is but on this coin for some reason its on the front.

This is an interesting coin as the 1993 MS69 coin was the lowest population coin found at the world trade center its estimated that only 120 coins where found. This coin is one of the hardest to get in the $1 Silver Eagle series coming from the world trade center ground zero

Nice silver set with a nice presentation in a box, this set should not be to hard to put together but its a nice reminder of what happened at the world trade center. For the small collector this would be a great set to give to your grandchildren.
Video of the WTC $1 Silver Eagle being sold on SHOPNBC around year 2006 shopnbc wtc coins, price $399.00 it says retail value of $999.95 Wonder how they came up with that for a retail price ?
Anyway the video is funny on how they hype they coins and on TV they say the coins are first $99 and then they drop the price to $79 per coin.
They say on the video they had 100 and 100 of these coins to start with and now they only have like 39 left. Goes in the category of funny video's

I hope that making these post somebody is going to know the information I am searching for and this web site can be more complete. The 1989 WTC $1 Silver dollar has been seen on E-bay and here is a picture of it. The price on this coin is a little about the 2001 silver eagle in BU certification. All these WTC Ground Zero coins are in so low quantity to begin with and the historical value of the coins can not be changed so what ever coin you have in the WTC recovery series hold on to it as long as you can.

This is the 1987 $1 Silver Eagle BU from The World Trade Center vault that was excavated from the rubbles of the world trade center. This coin like all the other coins has a PCGS certification that they are uncirculated BU. I would say that the population of this coin is much less than the 2001 $1 silver eagle. I will update this page when I have the population numbers.
