WTC $50 Mexico Gold Coin 1 of 34

A very nice guy send me a picture of the WTC Mexican gold coin from 1945, what a beauty. This coin was found in 34 pieces and because part of the 1 of 34 series. Why somebody would have 34 Mexican gold coins in a vault under the World Trade Center is always the million dollar question but now its part of the WTC coins history a story that becomes better and better every day. I have about 3 new coins never before seen on this website to add to the site. Again on the Mexico coins if any of the other 34 coin owners out there would write me a note I have something special to share with you guys on this coin.

WTC 1987-W PR69 DCAM

The last WTC coin in the series of 3 coins that my friend send over pictures of, and as you can see I saved the best for last. This is an absolute beautiful coin, certified as PR69 from PCGS this coin is a fine as when it came from the US mint. This coin might have survived 2 WTC boomings in 1993 and in 2001 and still keeps its luster and beauty. I was told that 2 coins exists of the WTC 1987-W PR69 DCAM from PCGS

WTC 1987-W $50 PR62DCAM

Again from the same friend here is another PCGS Proof coin making it out of the World Trade Center Vault. This coin is the 1987 $50 gold 1 oz coin certified as PR62DCAM, with beautiful luster and mirror finish. A note from my friend says that there is only 1 coin in existence of the Pr62DCAM certified PCGS WTC recovery.

Putting together the 1 of 190 WTC set

So as always I look around Ebay to see what is available of the WTC coins and today, I can see something that might interest lots of people. The 1 of 190 set, the first set of 2001 coins put together by PCGS can be pieced together from different auction this week.

I have put below all the different auctions that you need to visit to put this set together but that is what us collectors do we collect and enjoy it.

So lets start with the big dog, the WTC $100 platinum coin.

After that there are a few ways to go to get the rest of the coins that are missing in the set. You can buy the rest of the coins from one seller, see it here.

It does not happen often that I find a coin from the world trade center vault that is not in my collection but today there was one. This 1983 1 oz Krugerrand was not in the collection on this website. Again as with many of the other coins I just know that it has been certified PCGS Ground Zero Recovery coin. But how many are out there of this 1983 gold coins is not certain. The seller on ebay is having at a Buy it now for $1500 but remember with the Krugerrand coins they are not .999 like the US eagles and gold coins they are .917 but still its now a historic coin and its for sale if anybody are out there collecting the South African WTC coins. So lets recap what has happen the last 4 month. The investment companies has gone under, the banks has gone under or been bail out and the US treasury is printing money like there was no tomorrow. The US debt is the trillions of dollars and the interest rate is at its all time low .5%. So this should be the thime to by gold?

Well if you get cash the cash is really just an" I owe you"  from the treasury department, with the dollar going down this week almost 10% against the Euro and the YEN well the buying power of your dollars becomes less. So what do you do, well you buy gold to protect your dollars.

They have two things going for them, its a historical event when the WTC Towers was attacked and everybody know where they where on that date, and that time. WTC ERROR Coin Silver Eagle

So I think we should all go home and have a look at our WTC coins, there is a coin on Ebay right now a WTC $1 Silver eagle that has a double die error. The guy selling it has explain it very well in these pictures.

Its called a 9 -11- 01 WTC Ground Zero Recovery Error. Double die reverse its the first once of its kind I have seen but with all the silver eagle out there from the WTC I am sure there are more.

World Trade Center 1994 $50 Gold MS68 this at a great deal on Ebay right now at $1,400 or best offer, this is not my coin but the deal is great at $1,400 there is supposed to only be 17 of this coin out there and the other ebay seller with a 1994 MS68 is at $1,800+ for his coin. WTC Coin Price Silver and Gold

So the other day I was looking on E-Bay for WTC coins believe me something I do a lot both to keep up with the prices on coins but also to make sure I don't miss a coin that is not up on the web site. So it struck me how much difference there are in prices on one coin. Take the WTC 2001 $1 Silver eagle, I have seen that coin on E-bay from about $199 to around $450 and any amount in between. When somebody runs a no reserve auction the price normally lands right around $200 which I consider the fair price for the coin in this market. Well it made me think that I could make a price comparison under each coin from the WTC. So if you go under the $1 silver eagle right now you should see live the different price on the coin and be able to find the right price. Its this code stuff I use that comes from E-bay so sometimes it brings other coins in also but I think it will give you a better picture of the prices of a coin.

Why Is Gold Falling In Price

I bought gold about 4 years ago as in my economical teachings I had always learn if the world are in a crises people will start buy gold as a safe investment. Well looking at the last month of turbulent markets all over the world gold has only gone one way and that has been down. So I wanted to find out what was different this time compared to what the books are telling us would happen when the market goes down. Well looking around on the web I found a great explanation at this blog.http://blog.adamnash.com/2008/10/24/why-the-price-of-gold-is-sinking-fast/ 

He Mr. Adam Nash is telling us that people are selling gold to meet margin calls on other investments they have so they have to sell gold. To me that sounds like a reasonable explanation considering the fast collapse of the US and world markets. But does it not also mean that if a hedge fund or mutual fund sells gold to meet market calls that they have to at sometime buy that gold back to keep their risk profile the same as they have advertised to consumers. I think it does and I think it means that the gold will go back up when the markets starts to stabilize again as the people selling gold now really have to sell but they don't want to sell. So they will buy back as their portfolio gets back in the black.

Well its funny to see how the WTC coins and bullion are not affected by the gold and silver price as 1oz. gold coins still sell for a minimum of $1,200 -1,400 and silver coins sell for a minimum of $70 with 1 oz of silver at $10. This makes WTC coins a much safer investment that regular bullion coins which I guess a few people have found out given the recent activity on E-bay. Right now over 150 world trade center coins are up for auction where a normal number in the last 6 month has been around 100 coins.

Gold Located In The WTC

I have gotten a few email about the gold coins and the silver coins and where they came from. A lot of people writing me wants to know, why all this gold and silver was located in the world trade center. An Interesting WTC Coin !

What do you guy thing about this coin, that was send to me by a WTC coin collector today, the coin in question is the $5 Gold Maple from Canada with "PCGS CERTIFIED" written on the flag and not the regular "Gem Uncirculated" there is one coin on E-Bay right now where the sell states that its an "WTC PCGS Error coin". It maybe, but I have no information about PCGS making this mistake on some of the coins. The WTC collector that send me the 3 coins pictured wrote me that she had personally seen 3 of these coins on E-Bay at different times. So if it is a true PCGS Error on the printing on the Flag then we know that 3 coin if not more are out there.

If anybody has any information about this "PCGS Certified" on the flag slab please let me know at jacob@wtc911coins.com and I will put the information out.

WTC 2001 $50 MS70

From Looking up the serial number on PCGS

The above chart is from PCGS showing the coin serial number when put into PCGS coin look up chart. As all the population numbers for the WTC is not know by me or by PCGS this is the best we can do.

I would say one of the best coins on E-bay right now, a 2001 $50 Gold MS70. I think its the 2nd time I see a 2001 1oz MS70 coin on E-bay first time was the full set of WTC 2001 MS70 all 4 coins. Its a great looking coin and I am sure the buyer of this coin will look at this historic WTC coin as a true steal at the current price. If you can find this coin on E-Bay look at all the WTC coins that are on there if you remember to search in E-Bay stores.

1 of 12 Swiss Gold Bar ?

Well this just proves that nobody knows what coins and bars came from the World Trade Center. This 1 of 12 Credit Suisse 1 oz. Gold bar is a first for me. I have talked to a lot of people about these coins and never hear about the 1 of 12 series gold bars. I guess it is only 1 gold bar in this series or maybe there are more coins ? To be honest I don't know but I will try and find out.

I know its been a while since my last post on here, but I have not really seen anything new out there except for this Gold bar.

I thought we where close to having all the coins from the WTC on this page but found this one today that was missing, The $100 Australian Nugget from 1999 I know I have seen the $50 also from 1999 but have not seen the other 2 gold pieces for the 1999 Australian Gold Series

Coin Values

Coin value is always what somebody wants to pay for a coin there can be no other definition to this. To determine the coin value for these WTC coins there are a few things that needs to be remembered. Coin value is a combination of coin population, price of the metal, coin grade and finally the history of the coin. Just look at E-bay that will give you a  good idea of coin value to the WTC coins. So let have a look at this coin the WTC 1999 $50 Gold Eagle what would be the value of this coin. Well by having a look around on this page the population of this coin is thought to be around 144 coins total in the MS69 grade. The coin can be found on E-bay for around $1,300 to $1,800 which is much more than a regular MS69 1 oz eagle grade by PCGS. Coin value here is a historical value and a population value as are the case with most WTC coins.
